Just a few of these pictures are enough to make me emotional.
World hunger is one of the biggest problems faced in this world today. About 24,000 people die EVERY DAY, and most of these deaths are faced by children under five. Even though there is a lot of food in the world, some people in the world can’t access these foods because of poverty. About 1/10 of the world population suffer from chronic hunger every year. Because of the hunger problem, the majority of people suffer from blindness, anemia, malnutrition related problems and other diseases because they are not getting enough diet. There are lots of countries facing hunger issues in the world. Most of the hungry countries are undeveloped countries such as Africa.
It pains me deep down that the people who suffer from hunger are in need of food DESPERATELY. Food is one of the five basic necessities for life. Truth is, no one can survive without food or water, you know it. This realization makes me appreciate how fortunate I really am. Really. Not only do I ask for food, I ask for KFC, Macdonalds, Long John Silver's, Burger King, Subway, Carl's Jr....... and the list never ever ends. I get to taste the best foods anytime and anywhere I like. Food and water is always available and within my reach.
But have you ever spared a single thought for the people around the world who are suffering from hunger? They search the trash bins to seek for food, they drink the water from the drains, they pick up every single grain of rice that they see and they are willing to eat ANYTHING as long as they can have a bite or two. Have they ever tried fastfood? Have they ever drank soda? Do they have a phone? Do they have air conditioners? Do they have proper clothes? Do they have a television? Do they have computers? Do they have access to the internet? Do they have a proper bed? Do they have a warm blanket to cover? No.
We say FML over the slightest things. But how about them? They definitely feel a hundred and one times worse, having to worry about whether they are lucky enough to find food tomorrow and having to worry that they might die because of starvation. I don't even want to imagine me in their shoes. We are all clear of the exact feeling when our tummy grumbles for food. We reach for food immediately to satisfy the grumbling noises of our pampered tummy. How about them? They must have gotten used to the feeling of hunger, knowing that they can't do shit about it.
They are so weak and fragile..... It's beyond words. How do they even get through a day without sufficient food? I feel like shit cuz I can't do shit about world hunger, as for now. I'm too young to do anything big, but I would be more than willing to share my food or even give my whole portion of it to the people out there who needs it much much more than me. I always tell myself, if I was the boss of a food restaurant, I will definitely do my part to supply my food to the people of world hunger as long as it's within my means.
The purpose of this post is not to insist that everyone should finish up their food everytime, but to open our hearts, close our eyes, save a kind thought for the people of world hunger and PRAY. Praying for them is the least we can do, please follow and pray along with me:
'Dear Lord, too often we take our daily bread for granted while others go hungry. Let us not forget those all over the world who must struggle everyday to feed themselves and their families. Lord, we pray that you strike in our hearts the desire to help the needy. Help us to recognise that hunger affects not nameless, faceless people, but other human beings: people with families, hopes, and dreams for the better future. On this day, we praise you for the people who have been freed from hunger and I ask for your guidance to free more. In your blessed name we pray, Amen'
